If childhood to you meant Saturday morning cartoons and sugary cereal, this list is for you! If you’re like me and your childhood looked more like Frasier reruns and pizza for breakfast, this list could also be for you! I discovered my love of sweet and fruity cereals later in life, so I can guarantee this list is both kid and adult approved.

We gathered fruity cereals, both old and new, to see which ones stand the test of time. We looked for crunch, sweetness, and craveability. Some were surprisingly wonderful and some were shockingly bad. Devastatingly, none had a prize in the box. Can we bring that back???

Best of the Best

Fruity Pebbles

If you saw our ranking of the best chocolate cereals, you know we lost our absolute minds for Cocoa Pebbles. This made us have very high expectations for Fruity Pebbles and, boy oh boy, did they live up to them. These little flakes are so crunchy and light. The flavor is super fruity and the smell is utterly intoxicating to a cereal lover. Nothing tasted nearly as good as Fruity Pebbles. I also love that there are tons of fun recipes on the back of the box and that they are also gluten-free. I am now a total and complete Fruity Pebbles stan.

Best for Adults

Kellogg’s Special K Fruit & Yogurt$4.68 Walmart

Regular Special K is good, but Special K Fruit and Yogurt is great. The yogurt clusters add such an incredible creamy, rich sweetness to the typical cereal blend. Oaty, crunchy, and light, this feels like a very adult breakfast in the best way possible. Like something you’d enjoy in the morning before heading out to your cool job that you love. That being said, a kid could totally enjoy this too. Buy a box of this and your whole family will happily enjoy it!

Best Surprise

JoJo Siwa Strawberry Bop Breakfast Cereal$19.99 Amazon

I cannot believe I’m typing this, but the JoJo Siwa cereal is delicious. We all expected it to taste like chemicals and food dye and processed junk. We were wrong! Sorry, JoJo! It has a great, airy crunch and natural strawberry flavor. The marshmallows are sweet and plentiful. There’s a gentle corn flavor from the corn puffs. From one lesbian icon to another: I’m sorry I doubted you, JoJo. You make a good cereal. See you at Pride next year!

Best Adorable

Trix

The first thing I noticed is that Trix are…beautiful? The little shapes are so cute! I would happily wear these as earrings. The flavor is similar to Fruity Pebbles, but a little more potent. Between the adorable shapes, bright colors, and maze on the back, I think these would be great for kids (or kids at heart). It appears as if there is little to no nutritional value in this cereal, but that’s okay! There doesn’t need to be. That’s not the point of fruity cereal anyway!

Best Unique

Apple Jacks

I’m not a pumpkin spice latte kind of guy and this smells like that so I was skeptical. To my (very pleasant) surprise, the taste is actually much milder than I thought it would be. Apple Jacks have a flavor that is reminiscent of french toast or cinnamon rolls. They would be a suitable replacement for mornings when you are in a rush and don’t have time to cook a warm and cinnamony breakfast. It’s decadence meets convenience, but light and crunchy, if that makes sense at all?

Best with Marshmallows

Froot Loops with Marshmallows$4.29 Target

I am shocked to say that most of the cereals with marshmallows were bad. It seems like marshmallows would be a slam dunk in an already delicious fruity cereal, but that was not the case. Adding marshmallows to Froot Loops, however, was a game changer. The extra crunch enhanced the Froot Loops. Plus, unlike the marshmallow versions of other cereals, this one maintained the flavor of the classic Froot Loops. Now that I’ve had Froot Loops with marshmallows, I’m not going back.

Best Crunch

Fruit Loops$4.29 Target

First and foremost, how did it take me this long to realize that these are spelled “Froot” Loops. To be honest, I don’t think I like that. I do, however, like the taste of Froot Loops! They’re sweet and super crunchy. To me, they are weirdly a little bit reminiscent of the fruity undertones of a jalapeño. No, they don’t taste like jalapeños, but jalapeño fans will get what I’m talking about. If you’re not into jalapeños, just trust me and believe me when I say that you’ll like it!
